Dave Holmes

Dave Holmes is a vocal artist based just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. Dave has a love of the jazz, swing, and ballad standards written in the 20th Century. Created from the 1920’s and into the 1960’s, these songs have withstood the test of time. The music and lyrics are as beautiful and engaging as they were the very first time they were performed or recorded. As a singer, Dave shares the dream of keeping this wonderful genre of music alive and appreciated by the next generations of artists and listeners.

Dave sings his solo act in small venues, accompanying himself on his Gretsch Electromatic hollow-body guitar. Solo renditions of classics such as “Nevertheless (I’m In Love With You), written and recorded by Bert Kalmer and Harry Ruby in 1931, set a warm and inviting tone, perfect for the cocktail lounge experience. In a given evening, you will hear classics like “Fly Me To The Moon,” “I’ve Got The World On a String,” I Can’t Believe You’re In Love With Me,” and dozens more. What’s more, you will find yourself humming those classic old tunes the next day. They have a habit of sticking.

Dave is in the process of working with Nashville musician and producer Chris Donohue to create his first studio extended-play recording entitled “Dave Holmes: The Cowboy Arms Sessions.” This six-song EP was recorded at The Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa in Nashville. The legendary late “Cowboy” Jack Clement wanted a place where musicians could create music together and have fun doing it. With modern sound isolation and an open floor plan that allows all the artists to see each other in the process of recording, it was the perfect choice for the project. “Dave Holmes: The Cowboy Arms Sessions” is expected to be released in 2024.

Dave is excited to perform as a vocalist with other artists who share his love of this wonderful style of music. If you would like to discuss the possibility of working with Dave as a vocalist in your future musical projects, drop him a line in the contact section of the website. He will personally respond to you. Whether with a band or an orchestra, at a festival or concert, Dave will surely “swing it” with you.
